Hape is another company whose toys can be found everywhere in my house, particularly dominating the corner where their play stove, refrigerator and grocery store live and are played with every. single. day. ❤
They have a strong commitment to making educational, safe,
eco-friendly products that are built to last for generations and have won numerous awards. Their creator, Peter Handstein, grew up in Germany but eventually moved to China where he developed a fascination with bamboo. Many of their toys are made from this sturdy, highly renewable resource. They are also conscious of minimizing their environmental impact through manufacturing, packaging, shipping and transport.
They also have a focus on giving back and promoting sustainable practices. They have built 3 schools in rural Guizhou, China, providing education for 10,000 children so far. In 2016 as part of their 30th anniversary celebration, they created the global charity "We Care We Share". They make donations to children in impoverished areas, hospitals, autism rehab centers, and refugee camps among others. As a demonstration of their commitment to education worldwide, Hape has also co-run the Access International Academy for the past 3 years, allowing them to influence the educational curriculum from K through high school!
